Beckett Baseball, August 1996
As comprehensive as it is colorful, The Collector is a portable and expansive card log destined to be a page-turner. Possessing 190 pages and the capability to track 15 complete sets - and in all more than 57,000 cards - the thick spiral-bound book enables enthusiasts to take necessary specifics of their collection on the road, while leaving their cards safe at home. "You can find any card you're looking for within 30 seconds," says Larry Malicki, owner of Tri-Cun Books, which published The Collector. "Children and avid collectors alike can actually keep track of their complete collection, and never touch their cards." The book, which Malicki says takes two years to fill, contains several color-coded sections and includes spaces for photocopies of cards, pack wrappers, redemption cards, magazine covers, business cards and notes.

Boy's Life, April 1997
Collecting trading cards is more than a hobby for 15-year-old Michael Malicki. It's a business. In March 1996, Michael and his father, Larry Malicki, created The Collector, a portable trading-card logbook. Michael, a Life Scout in Troop 871, LaPorte, Ind., got the idea for the logbook at a 1991 pack meeting. While Cub Scouts showed one another their collections, the cards got smudged and bent. Michael knew there had to be a way to show off your cards without damaging them. His solution: a book that lists all your cards so you can keep them safe at home. Michael worked on all aspects of the book: design, binding and selling. He's now vice-president of operations at Tri-Cun Books, the company the Malickis started to sell the logbook.

From the Author
The Collector is a book we developed out of love for the collector card hobby. It enables you to keep an organized record of your collection while also providing a portable log to take to fellow collectors' homes or to the many shows we all attend in search of that "one last card". As you enter the arena to buy, sell and trade, you will need only this book to see at a glance what cards are still needed and what cards you have to barter with. Best of all, this can be done with the actual cards being left at home, safe and free from damage.
