About the Author
Dave Kapell, founder of Magnetic Poetry, songwriter and ex-cab driver, was suffering from writer's block while trying to compose song lyrics. To overcome the problem, Dave cut words out from newspapers and magazines and arranged them, looking for inspiration. What Dave didn't figure into his writing experiment was his allergies one sneeze and all his carefully placed words and letters went flying. That lead to the idea of gluing a piece of magnet to the back of each tiny word and sticking the newly "magnetized" words to a cookie sheet. The cookie sheet worked great until Dave got hungry. Next the magnetized words made their way to the refrigerator door where before too long, Dave wasn't the only one rearranging would-be song lyrics. Visiting Friends began amusing themselves by creating the first magnetic poems. From these simple beginnings the first Magnetic Poetry Kit was born.
