Book Description
Twentieth Century Design is an irresistibly compact handbook of the most influential pieces of design produced in the modern age. Featuring photographs and descriptions of the century-defining work of such pioneers as Frank Lloyd Wright, Rem Koolhaas, Gio Ponti, Eileen Gray, Charles and Ray Eames, Helmut Newton, Vivienne Westwood, Saul Bass, Phillippe Starck, Neville Brody, and many others, the result is a celebration of design in the twentieth century, in its many guises--in advertising, furniture, graphics, architecture, fashion, interiors, and more.

Twentieth Century Design is a comprehensive and colorful survey of the classics of contemporary design. Up to the minute, it includes such recent innovations as the Apple iMac and the new Beetle. With a stylish small-scale format that is itself an example of excellent design, this is the biggest small book yet on twentieth century design.

About the Author
Catherine McDermott is a curator at the London Design Museum. She is the author of a large format hardcover book, Twentieth Century Design, a main selection of Newbridge's Architects and Designers Book Club, as well as books on Vivienne Westwood, Ben Kelly, English Eccentrics, and '80s British design.
