Book Description
Malawi has been called "the warm heart from Africa," and with good reason. But despite its beautiful mountains, stunning lake and a unique range of wildlife, it is relatively undiscovered and not yet one of Africa's major tourist destinations. Spectrum Guide to Malawi has been written by travel experts who have been closely involved with this special country for more than 20 years. It provides full details of where to go, what to see, and how to get there, and contains an up-to-date briefing on the country's culture, languages, geography, history, politics and economy. With more than 200 full-color photographs, this is an indispensable guide for visitors to one of Africa's friendliest destinations.

Spectrum Guide to Malawi

FROM THE CRITICS

Library Journal

This is a splendid guide to an African country that few people visit, though it appears to be worth a journey. Formerly Nyasaland, Malawi is located in a rift valley, with Lake Malawi running much of the length of the country. It is a poor country, with a still-developing infrastructure, but apparently relatively safe and boasting a plethora of game and national parks, lakes, and mountains. This guide has all the things one expects from a travel book: history, hotels, currency, telephone numbers, etc., and other delightful bonuses; of especial interest is the extensive list of animals one might see, with descriptions and scientific names. Also included are sections on cities and towns, places subdivided by region, the economy and business opportunities, and a section on special features, such as religion, music, food, and vegetation. The book is lavishly illustrated with over 250 color photographs and many maps. Essential for any travel library.-George M.
