Are you a Man? Take this simple quiz to find out! You are having a fight with your wife/girlfriend/sex partner. You've made your point, you've listened to her side. Now: a. Let her rehash it, go over each of your points, tell you why she disagrees and/or is made angry by them. b. Leave the room. c. Bring up that thing she did New Year's Eve three years ago you are still pissed about. d. Take her. Right there. Assuming it's not a fight over dinner in a restaurant you want to come back to. The answer is b. If you don't know why, it is explained in detail later in the book. You come out of a bar, three guys are slapping around a smaller guy in the parking lot. You: a. Go back in the bar and tell the bouncer. It's his job. b. Keep walking. Small guys can be jerks. He probably deserved it. c. Join in. Either side, it doesn't matter. It's a fight! Hit someone! d. Stop it. We're all men, facing the same problems, the same fears. The samurai of Japan had a code, and part of this code is never take longer than seven seconds to make a decision. Your response to this situation is pure instinct, and therefore can't be wrong. You get one point if you chose one and stayed with it, lose two if you changed your mind. Your wife/girlfriend/kid buys you a book written by a gruff-but-lovable TV actor. You: a. Ask her how she got the floormats you asked for into such a small package. b. Thank her, and use it to rest your beer on because you can never find the damn coaster she wants you to use. c. Thank your lucky stars that all the wisdom you need to lead an honorable, manly life has finally been placed between two covers at a reasonable price. d. Flip through it, looking for pictures or graphs. It's c of course. Two points for that one. --from the Introduction to Real Men Don't Apologize!
