Book Description
Sammy Lanskys journey from the small town of Cordele, GA, where he had been raised by immigrant parents, to the lucrative business venture he enters into with his doctor friends, makes him a complex individual. He has no idea how complicated life can get until he meets the German beauty, Rosvita. She shatters his world yet makes him whole. More importantly, she helps him become one of The Hydrangea People.

From the Inside Flap
"Call it fate, luck, timing, whatever the hell you want, " Clete had said. "Success don't have nothing to do with intelligence, Sammy. It's got everything to do with putting your young self in a position to suc-ceed." Sammy laughed to himself and took another long drink of the scotch. Clete had been right--by joining Mo in practice, he had put himself in a position to, as Clete said, suc-ceed. He had gone to medical school to make his parents proud, and they were. He had joined Mo to make money, and he had. Sammy Lansky's journey from the small town of Cordele, Georgia to the lucrative business venture he enters into with his doctor friends and some big city high rollers makes him a complex individual. He has no idea how complicated his life can get until he meets the mysterious German beauty, Rosvita. She simultaneously shatters his world yet makes him whole. More importantly, she helps him become one of then hydrangea people.

From the Back Cover
Praise for Charles Gershon's The Hyrdrangea People "A stunning and heart-lifting debut of a new Southern writer. More than the story of a man at war with himself, Charles Gershon's novel is a glorious affirmation of Jewish values brought to the rural South, and how those values triumphed in today's world. Bravo!" -Robert Coram, author of Boyd: The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War "The Hydrangea People is one of those intriguing and enjoyable stories that takes the reader by the eyeballs and holds on until the last page. Simple in its story line but complicated in its subject matter, it explores greed, loyalty, friendship and the horror of history in a compassionate and satisfying manner." -Terry Kay, author of To Dance With The White Dog "Charles Gershon has written a remarkable and courageous first novel. With marvelous insight and unleashed candor, he delineates the difference between greed and charity, class and brass. He portrays the corporate mentality toward medicine that has contrived to separate patients and physicians from the mutual trust they once enjoyed. But at the heart of this book is one man's haunting search for love and affirmation and the triumphant, climactic revelation of how he attains both. The Hydrangea People is a must-read for anyone who has ever doubted themselves and eventually found peace. I anticipate with great eagerness further works from Charles Gershon." -Ferrol Sams, author of Run With The Horsemen
