FROM THE PUBLISHER

This handbook consists of an illustrated history of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, a description of the design process that produced the landmark building by I. M. Pei, and 170 entries on the most important works in the Museum's collection. These works, reproduced in full color and discussed at length, are from every major world culture from ancient Japan and Greece to contemporary America, Europe, and Africa. Among the artists represented are Rembrandt, Durer, Goya, Constable, Eakins, Degas, Rauschenberg, Stelle, Hiroshige, Qi Baishi, and many others, in a variety of media, from glass and ceramics to sculpture, painting, prints, drawings, and photographs.
