About the Author
Delbert G. Carlson, D. V. M. Dr. Carlson, a medical and surgical practitioner in Springfield, Missouri, received his degree from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1955. Dr. and Mrs. Carlson have raised five children and have always owned cats and dogs. Dr. Carlson is past president of the Greene County Humane Society and is currently in veterinary practice with his daughter, Lisa D.Carlson, D. V. M., who has contributed greatly to this book.

James M. Giffin, M. D. Dr. Giffin, a surgeon in Colorado, served as Chief of Surgery at the 45th Surgical Hospital in Vietnam and was activated to serve in Operation Desert Storm. He has been active in showing dogs, and has always enjoyed the companionship of cats. He also enjoys hiking and other outdoor sports. He is the co-author of the Complete Great Pyrenees, Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook and Horse Owner's Veterinary Handbook, all available from Howell Book House.
