FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

The author is only seven and she already has quite a sense of humor. This variation on "The Twelve Days of Christmas" will appeal to dog fanciers and anyone who likes a chuckle. From one poodle in a doghouse to eleven labs laughing, readers will get a laugh at the final gift on the twelfth day of Christmas. The photographs of real dogs are combined with fanciful illustrations by Sharon Collins and Kelly Ann Moore. The book is packaged with a CD filled with a cacophony of woofs, barks and yelps that accompanying the kids singing the song, and then a version of the song without any singing-just an occasional dog bark.
