About the Author
Dr. Jan Becka (PhD, MA, Charles University, Prague) currently Senior Research Fellow at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, has specialized and published on modern history and current affairs on Myanmar. His publications include "The National Liberation Movement in Burma During the Japanese Occupation Period (1941-1945)" and many journal articles. Becka lived in Myanmar as a student at Yangon University (1958-1960) and has since visited the country several times.
