From AudioFile
This fascinating contribution to the DA VINCI CODE controversy, ably narrated with only occasional excesses, is one of many rebuttals to the assault on conservative Christianity that Dan Brown's novel represents. Like arguments on both sides of the issue, the writing is full of pejorative hyperbole and logical lapses. But it contributes to the discussion by laying out some important differences in the way Christ is regarded by traditional Christians as compared to the Gnostic Christians, whose gospels were suppressed after Christ's death. With only some moralizing, the program tries to answer the question of whether understanding Jesus in Gnostic terms is part of a neo-pagan, quasi-religious movement or a healthy broadening of our relationship with God. Book Description
Garlow and Jones trace Brown's misguided and false teaching back to its roots, which, surprisingly, are still active in our culture and churches today.

Cracking Da Vinci's Code

FROM THE PUBLISHER

In the past year, many Christians have become dismayed￯﾿ᄑeven disillusioned￯﾿ᄑfrom reading the popular bestselling novel, The Da Vinci Code.

Much of what is presented in Dan Brown￯﾿ᄑs novel is presented as historical data. Could it really be true? Have Christians bought a bill-of-goods where the foundations of our faith is concerned?

￯﾿ᄑWere Jesus and Mary Magdalene really married?

￯﾿ᄑDid they have children?

￯﾿ᄑWere the accounts of their lives really rewritten and kept hidden by a secret society?

What does it all mean?

In the new Victor release Cracking Da Vinci's Code, top Christian researchers tackle the ideas presented as historical data in the Doubleday novel The Da Vinci Code. James L. Garlow, Ph.D., and Peter Jones, Ph.D., address the growing controversies and the historical misconceptions that form the basis for much of Dan Brown￯﾿ᄑs bestseller. In their easy-to-follow style, Garlow and Jones confront what many consider the novel￯﾿ᄑs heresy with compelling evidence that supports Christianity￯﾿ᄑs foundations and exposes the possible agenda behind the fiction. Cracking Da Vinci's Code will help readers understand the roots of the modern heresy found in The Da Vinci Code￯﾿ᄑwhere it began, what it means￯﾿ᄑand its possible hidden agenda!
