Clearly, the editors have known how to keep this work updated over the years. The 17th edition features new: contributors, chapters, color layout, color illustrations, and an included CD-ROM, which contains the book's illustrations for use in PowerPoint presentations. Editor Townsend (U. of Texas, Galveston) led the editorial team of four to shape material from some 150 contributors into 76 chapters useful to surgeons and future surgeons.
