FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

It is a beautiful day and Dora the Explorer is getting ready for a picnic. Her mother is helping her with the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Dora also has bananas for her best friend Boots. Her other friends are also contributing to the feast. Bunny is bringing juice and Big Red Chicken has popcorn. Baby Blue Bird has a wagonload of fruit and so on. Before eating they all have a great time playing on the slide, swings and in the sandbox. This Ready-to-Read Level 1, is designed to help kids read with success and to have some fun with familiar characters. At this level, word repetition, familiarity and simple sentences will greatly assist those at the pre-reading level. 2003, Simon Spotlight, Ages 4 to 6.
