   Book Review

From Book News, Inc.
The latest edition of a classic that was first published in 1938. Pragmatically focused with respect to the concerns of the designers and constructors of buildings, the volume presents a minimum of fundamental structural mechanics and a digest of the basic issues regarding common forms of construction in the major structural materials of wood, steel, concrete, and masonry. This edition adds an entire new part (Part V) devoted to the topic of strength design. It also further expands the illustrations in Part VI (old Part V), which tie together much of the rest of the work in the volume in presenting some full-blown involvements in complete building structures. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
