FROM THE CRITICS

Reviewer: Sonia Stephenson, RTR (m) (Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital)Description: This book fulfills the promise of its title. All subjects technologists may need before taking their boards are thoroughly discussed. Each section ends with 100 questions to make sure the material is understood. Many special tips are given, such as how to effectively use study time, strategies for answering multiple choice questions, and career planning. An interactive CD-ROM is also included for extra help. Purpose: The purpose is not only to help new technologist pass their boards, but also to help them plan for their career. When I was a student, I would have loved to have had a book full of so many helpful insights such as goal setting, hints on interviewing, how to type a resume, test-taking skills and long term career planning. These are skills needed in every career. Audience: It is obvious the author is a long term educator. He must have seen a need among his new technologists for a book that is so complete. This book is written for just those students who want to walk into their board exam with confidence and who are ready to launch their own careers. Features: All subjects that are on the ARRT board exam for radiologic technologists are thoroughly discussed in this book. What I liked best are the many helpful hints about how to study for the board exam and the systematic way to study. There are many diagrams and fun games to enliven the material. The CD-ROM makes studying like a game. The challenge tests in the back of the book are a good way to see what subjects you may need to study more intensely. Assessment: I would recommend this book to radiologic technology students who are about to embark on their career. It is full of "must have" information and skills. The book would also be helpful to those technologists who never understood the importance of career planning or may be looking for a new opportunity to improve their skills. This updated version is full of new and exciting material.
