FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Heather Robertson

If ever a book was made for kinesthetic learners, this is it. Have you ever wanted to explore uncharted territories? How about become a cave artist or mathemagician? Does researching life on Mars sound interesting to you? This book will help you find out where to look. The author obviously has had to help a child plan or create a project for a class, because the book is filled with different activities kids can do for any class they take in school. The sites the book recommends are excellent (the one about the Underground Railroad particularly so) and some I have even added to my favorites file. The activities are well thought out and are more than just plain reports. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the author even ties in practical computer skills (such as copying a picture to a document), invaluable skills in today's world. This book is a great idea for teachers who need creative ideas or parents who want to encourage their children to learn. 2002, John Wiley & Sons,
